On Saturday 4th September 2010 from 2 pm until 7pm, ERCCIS and Cornwall Wildlife Trust will be holding the first ever BioBlitz at Five Acres Nature Reserve, near Truro and we need you to help spot wildlife.
Join us in a race against the clock to record as much wildlife as possible in Allet, Cornwall. You can either explore the site in a small group recording your findings or you can join local naturalists as we try to find as many plants, animals and fungi as we can in 5 hours!
Take part in a group walk around the site looking for signs of mammals with Cornwall Mammal Group, or reptiles and amphibians with Cornwall Amphibian and Reptile Group (CRAG). There will be bird and flowering plant walks with local Cornish naturalists, as well as moth trapping and small mammal trapping (tbc) on the site.
All the walks are free and are an excellent opportunity to learn new identification skills, as well as helping to record as many species as possible for the Cornwall BioBlitz.*
Booking is essential as numbers are restricted for the event, so if you are interested in attending you can use our online booking form.
There is free parking at Five Acres Nature Reserve and there will be refreshments available throughout the afternoon. Aslo some of Cornwall’s specialist groups will be at the event, so you can learn how to get involved further.
When you arrive, follow signs to the BioBlitz Basecamp area
by ERCCIS headquarters!
If you would like to lead a walk or volunteer as a naturalist, please contact Martin.
