There is so much going on at the Environmental Records Centre it is sometimes hard to keep up with things! So here are a few of the highlights:

  • Kovadha Kernow, the newsletter of the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly  covers many topics  - e.g. Issue 9 contains Ferns in Cornwall and Scilly; the approach to species recording in the county; the wonderful world of Waxcaps; and a write-up of the Cornwall Invertebrate Group field trip, as well as the regular ERCCIS news and views and noteworthy records.  If you would like to be sent a paper version and be added to our newsletter mailing list (free of charge) please contact us or you can download it to your computer. See our Downloadable Files page for other issues of the newsletter.

  • A data management model has been developed for ERCCIS to cover the time wildlife and geological data is received at the Centre, through the data computerisation process, to the time it is filed away. Data that is received at ERCCIS can range from a single hand-written species record to professional reports, and data can also include maps, photographs and GIS datasets, to name but a few. Knowing what and when data is received, as well as what stage of the record extraction procedure the record is at, is information that should be available at the push of a button. This is the ideal that ERCCIS will achieve with the new data management model.
